چکیده

We discuss robustness in LE systems from the perspective of engineering, and the predictability of both outputs and construction process that this entails. We present an architectural system that contributes to engineering robustness and low-overhead systems development (GATE, a General Architecture for Text Engineering). To verify our ideas we present results from the development of a multi-purpose cross-genre Named Entity recognition system. This system aims be robust across diverse input types, and to reduce the need for costly and time-consuming adaptation of systems to new applications, with its capability to process texts from widely differing domains and genres.

How Architecture is Conceived, the Case of Fondazione Feltrinelli Building in Milan

Architecture lays on the intersection between art and science. However, while the social effects of architecture are coming to the fore, there emerges to be a notion that technological progress in the construction sector demands more scientifically inclined research in the field. This notion can not be segregated from the technical aspect and it is through this notion that architecture can be c...

تعبیر عناصر موسیقی و معماری با زبان مشترک نمونه‌موردی موسیقی و معماری سنتی ایران

Every nation has its own ideals that objectifying them is by culture. In the process of this transformation, the architecture and music which come from the culture of each region have a fundamental role. Architecture and music have many similarities in conceptual directions, space, shape and morphology. They also have similarities in the basic and fundamental principles such as proportions, rhy...

Semi-automatic Modelling of Building Façades with Shape Grammars Using Historic Building Information Modelling

This paper outlines a new approach for generating digital heritage models from laser scan or photogrammetric data using Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM). HBIM is a plug-in for Building Information Modelling (BIM) software that uses parametric library objects and procedural modelling techniques to automate the modelling stage. The HBIM process involves a reverse engineering solutio...

Rose/Architect: a tool to visualize architecture

Rational Rose is a graphical software modeling tool, using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) as its primary notation. It offers an open API that allows the development of additional functionality (“add-ins”). In this paper, we describe Rose/Architect, a RoseTM “add-in” used to visualize architecturally-significant elements in a system’s design, developed jointly by University of Southern Cali...

Refinement and Evolution Issues in Bridging Requirements and Architecture – The CBSP Approach

Though acknowledged as being very closely related, requirements engineering and architecture modeling have been pursued largely independently of one another in the past years. The inter-dependencies and constraints between architectural elements and requirements elements are thus not well-understood and subsequently only little guidance is available in bridging requirements and architectures. T...
